Have you heard of Judith Butler?  Well, if you haven’t then I think you’re missing out.  On top of being an iconic feminist theorist, she created the concept of performativity.  Basically, in a very small nutshell, she argues that we create our identity by performing it.

That’s what the Everyone is a Superhero project is all about.

Taking an appreciative inquiry approach, I am asking people what makes them a superhero.  I believe that everyone has many superhero characteristics.  But what they choose to perform, wearing a superhero cape and mask, is up to them.

And who am I?

While not wearing my superhero cape, I am working on a Master’s Degree at Royal Roads University.  My superhero home base is in New Westminster, BC.  I have two cow-coloured cats (Moo & Bill) and a golden named Gus as sidekicks and an assistant called Arne.
